Sacrament of Baptism

The word "Baptism" comes from a Greek word that means to 'plunge' or 'immerse'. To 'plunge' someone in water represents the person dying, being buried and resurrecting with Christ as a 'new creature.' Some call this Sacrament 'the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit' because Baptism results in a new birth of water and the Spirit. Without it, no one can enter the Kingdom of God.

The Sacrament of Baptism is administered by appointment only on a scheduled Saturday at 1:00 PM.  To arrange for a baptism, the parents must come to the rectory office to provide necessary information and they must bring with them the child’s birth certificate.  In preparation for the sacrament both parents must attend an instructional class scheduled at the rectory.
